Originated in the Aran Islands off the coast of Ireland.
The stitches represent old age Irish traditions and culture.

〜Cowichan Knit〜

 

 

In the 1860’s Scottish settlers from The Shetland Islands Scotland arrived Cowichan Valley Vancouver Island.
They introduced sheep and taught the Cowichan woman how to knit using the Fair Isle technique which then became the Cowichan sweater.

 

1860年代、シェトランド諸島からのスコットランド人入植者がバンクーバー島のカウチン渓谷に到着。
